“STRONG IS THE NEW SEXY”

It’s 2018 and the fitness world is now bigger than ever before.  I’m certain you all have heard the above term!

First of all let’s talk about the obvious physical benefits to pole and aerial fitness.  Majority of my classes are 12 week series and I don’t typically allow drop-in’s simply for the fact that I value a progressive learning style to prevent injuries and allow for skills to build upon.  Within 6 weeks of dedication to yourself and the class you will notice a difference in core and upper body strength.  Pole and aerial fitness is a wonderful toning exercise for ALL parts of the body however there is no doubt, your arms, back and abs get a phenomenal work out each class!  A stronger core helps improve backaches and overall strength in the body.  These types of classes also correct posture as we constantly stretch and strengthen and they also pack a bit of cardio. End result = More muscle definition, less fat percentage and overall a healthier, stronger you!

But what about our mental health?

Becoming apart of the pole and aerial community has become life changing for people all over the world.  It’s empowered us to be ourselves, to believe that our bodies are capable of doing amazing things!  We share these interests and want to become a better and stronger version of ourselves.

At Pembroke Pole Fitness we have created an aerial army!  We want to see each other succeed, encourage and support one another.  We all come in with different problems or insecurities weighing us down but majority of the time we made it to class and are all happy to see each other!  There has been those who struggle with weight loss, weight gain, family deaths, miscarriages, eating disorders, social anxiety and depression but have walked through those doors and I am thankful for that.  All those demanding jobs… My EMS workers, 12 hour shift nurses, Military troops, Momma’s, Servers for all those who Hustle. Every. Damn. Day and still make it to class…. If you are reading this… I am PROUD of you!  Pole has been an outlet for many but what about me? Yup, I’m going there.  Keep reading!

Without you guys, the studio would not run.  Without the studio… I don’t know where I would be.  My days are filled with my running and screaming children, household chores, a barking dog, and of course… business items that sometimes seem so overwhelming.  However, when I hit my happy place and see all the welcoming faces… my heart is full of gratitude.  Heck! Most of the time there is even an iced coffee waiting for me! In that moment of time our problems seem to melt away as we are climbing, spinning, and lifting.

When our mental health is looked after we can focus on the physical and I have seen this prosper in the studio time after time for example, those who said they would never wear “short shorts” but embrace them now.    There are now so many great community networks out there and when we have the support from others we can make a person that much stronger and confident.

So if you ask me… In today’s day in age…strong IS the new sexy!

Keep calm and pole on my friends!

Sincerely,
Lorissa
